MATA Ranked & High School Players Program

Khamp's Korner: A message from the Director

As we head into 2007, I want you to look back on all of your accomplishments, and the progress you have made with your game.

Remember “a goal that is not written down is only a wish”, with that in mind, I want you to write down 3 sets of goals for 2007.

1. Long term goals. (To be reached by Jan. 2008).
2. Mid-term goals. (To be reached by July 2007).
3. Short-term goals. (To be reached by April 2007).

In each set of goals have 1-3 things that you want to accomplish. It may be improving your ranking, making your tennis team, playing in college, or improving a particular part of your game. After you have written them down keep them in a binder and once a week look at them and evaluate your progress.

I am very proud of the coaches and players that we have, success does not come easy. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication, commitment, discipline and most of all team unity for everyone to reach their goals.
Tennis is more than a game. The things you learn will help you in all areas of your life. It teaches you the importance of hard work, responsibility and how to be gracious in both victory and defeat. When you compete you are not only representing yourself, but also, your parents, 4 Star Tennis Academy and the MATA Ranked Program.

I am thankful and feel blessed to have the opportunity to do what I love, to work with players who have the desire, the passion and the determination to be the best they can be. I look forward to working with all of you in 2007 and helping you reach your goals.

I leave you with this quote from Vince Lombardi: “Winning is not a sometimes thing; it’s an all the time thing. You don’t win once in a while; you do it all the time. Winning is a habit.”
